Lookout Ridge and Central Park

We ventured out to Lookout Ridge and Central Park in Woodbury this morning.

Central Park is an atrium/botanical garden area with paths and bridges and a waterfall that Jack loved to watch. There are lots of places to sit and just hang out or read or eat lunch. There's a little ice cream and snack stand that looked like they might have sandwiches as well. From Central Park you can get to the enormous library, the YMCA or Lookout Ridge, an indoor playground. Jack was hesitant at first, but enjoyed himself after watching other kids and exploring some of the smaller structures. I climbed through a rope bridge thing with him that he was interested in from the outside but once we started climbing through it, I think he got a little bit scared. His favorite things included a tunnel, not connecting anything, that he could crawl through and we could peek at each other from opposite ends, a little slide that we had to climb up a couple of steps to get to and I had to go with him, though I thought he might go by himself once, and then a jumping/bouncing thing that I also went in with him since he didn't know what to do by himself. I imagine we'll go back a couple of times this winter, but his lack of climbing skills and fear of trying something without me makes me think staying in the free Central Park area or going to the mall to look at the fountains is probably just as fun for him at this point. Next winter, when he'll likely be a bit more adventurous, I imagine it will be a blast!

I forgot my camera so I have no pictures of Jack, but the pictures from the website are of one of the huge climbing structures, maybe 30 feet tall, and the little orange slide that Jack liked. You can also see the tunnel in the background on the left-hand side.
