Hypersensitive Sensory Response?

At school this morning, Jack was playing in a bin full of bird seed. He was using cups and scoops to play, but then he used his hands and some of the seeds stuck to his fingers. He got a little bit gaggy and wanted it off his hands quickly, which concerned the teacher. She said this kind of sensory response can be a developmental red flag and that I should bring it up with his pediatrician during his next visit. Hmmmm...could it just be because we never let him get messy? I guess we'll have to initiate messy play and see what happens over the next 2 months until his doctor appointment.

The most fun part of school today was during circle time. We went around for each kid and sang "How old are you?" and Jack was the only one to hold up a finger and say "One!" Not even the two 2 year olds could do that!
