Jack is starting off the new year a bit tired. He's trying to get rid of the cold that I gave him (and now Josh isn't feeling well either) and is doing so by sleeping...a lot! Last night he went to bed at 6:00 and slept until about 7:30 this morning, and the night before he went down at 5:30 and slept until a little after 8:00 in the morning! It's given Josh and I more time to accomplish around the house and more time to sleep, too.
We just got back from visiting Jonel (Josh's sister) one last time before she heads back home and Jack learned a little bit of Mandarin Chinese from her — hello, good-bye and thank you. We talked a little bit about Chinese immersion schools to teach the language to children so that they are fluent by the third grade. Since Jack has such a large vocabulary at 17 months, they all said we should look into it for him. We'll see. It does actually sound kind of interesting and I'm sure it would give him a leg up later in life. For now I think I'll just stick with ECFE and singing songs while sitting in a circle :-)
