Smarty Pants

I've been urged to write down all of the things that Jack says and does (such as would be done in a baby book) but I'm terrible at that kind of stuff. So I'm going to type a long entry here to keep record of Jack's skills and cute things he does at 17 months.

• Recognizes all of his letters and can fill-in gaps to sing with or recite his ABCs

• Counts to 13 without missing any numbers and then can randomly say numbers up to 20, however counting actual objects is still too new of a concept

• Sings "Twinkle, Twinkle", "ABCs", "Rock-a-Bye Baby" and parts of other songs such as "Fly Me to the Moon", "Walkin' After Midnight" and "Don't Worry, Be Happy"

• Vocabulary includes at least 75 to 100 words, most of which he uses in context and forms up to 5 words sentences

• Knows the names of most of his 50 or so books and can complete almost any sentence in any of them, sometimes even reciting the next page before being prompted

• Starting to learn colors — knows red, blue and yellow pretty well, sometimes green and orange

• Holds a conversation with himself on the phone: "Hi. How's it going? Yeah. See you soon. Bye."

• Says "Please, Mommy?" in a sweet voice when he wants something — How do you say no to that?

• Likes to share what he's eating or drinking with others, including his glow worm or the baby on the front of a magazine, and most recently with the cartoon characters on TV

• Systematically says "Kiss Grandma" and gives her a kiss, then "Kiss, Grandpa" and gives him a kiss and so on when it's time to leave. He even said "Kiss Dog" when we left Pam's the other day!

I will be adding to this post in the next few days as I remember things or somebody else reminds me of something cute.
