We did the Hokey Pokey at school a couple of weeks ago and Jack thought it was so much fun! He didn't really get what to do with the putting in and out of things, but he figured out the "shake it all about" and the "turn yourself around" parts. It was the first time he actually participated with some enthusiasm during circle time.
The following week was almost as good as the Hokey Pokey. The teacher put on a song that asked the kids to do things like touch their nose or wiggle their body or jump up and down. About half way through, Jack stood up and started doing what the song said!
Today was another day of active participation for Jack. The theme of the day was animals and we sang Old MacDonald with props — each kid got to pick an animal from the basket and hold it up when the song mentioned the one they were holding. Jack picked the pig and made a pretty good pig snort :-) He also did a great cock-a-doodle-dooo for the rooster!
