Grandma and Grandpa have him sleeping in a big boy bed over at their house for naps. He loves it! I don't know if they're doing it so we'll follow suit and be able to have our crib in July for when Georgia will be staying with them, or if they just thought it would be fun for him. Either way, we're going to start looking into a big boy bed for him at home as well.
We had our last day at ECFE last week and will be going to an end of the year pizza party on Friday with families that participated in either ECFE or the pre-school in our district. I'm not sure who the Splatter Sisters are, but they will be the entertainment for the evening. Apparently the kids love them so we'll see what Jack thinks of them.
I went garage sale-ing on Thursday morning and found Jack one of those Little Tikes Cozy Coupes and a toddler sized climber/slide. It was a very exciting morning for me because I've been trying to find and buy them on craigslist but have come up empty handed. Also, I had no intention of buying them new because they are incredibly over-priced. The toddler sized climbers are really only big enough to accommodate one summer's worth of usage and they are $130 new — that's crazy!
Jack is learning to manipulate a little bit and I'm learning to let him throw tantrums a little bit. After being told no for whatever reason, he came over to me and said, "Mommy hug you?" and them "Mommy kiss you?" It was so cute though I didn't give in. Fortunately he forgot what he wanted anyways. Jack is a big milk drinker and we're trying to cut back because a lot of times he fills up on milk instead of food. I told him he needed to eat his sandwich before he could have any milk and he screamed! After about 5 or 10 minutes of going back and forth he finally took a huge bite of the sandwich and them asked for milk. I told him he needed to eat the whole thing and so he took big bite after big bite until he was done. After taking the last bite, he asked for his milk and when I gave it to him he spit out what was left in his mouth! It was pretty funny and it worked too. He only took a sip or two and was done.
Jack is a dancing machine! It's too cute to watch him dance. He kind of bops up and down and swings his arms from side to side. A lot of the time he sings as well. Sometimes it's because he hears music, but other times he just starts to sing and dance all by himself.
The other night, Jack let out a cry for help. I had just put him down for the night and had gone downstairs to get clothes out of the dryer when I could hear him crying. I figures he had pooped or something and I would go check on him after the dryer was empty. Then I thought I heard him yelling "stuck, stuck" so I went upstairs. By the time I got by his door he was saying "help, help, mommy" so I went in to check on him. He was just laying there crying, and he usually gets up on his feet when we go back in his room at night. Then I noticed his foot was wedged between the crib slats, the wall and his mattress and he couldn't move it! I got him unstuck and figured I'd be up with him for awhile, but he was just so tired that he didn't even reach up for me. He just tried to stop crying and grabbed my hand and put it on his face...maybe to wipe off his tears since that's what I always do. It made me kind of sad, but I'm glad he was able to yell for help.
