It was a little bit tough dropping Jack off. He cried a lot and didn't want to let go of me. He kept saying things like, "Mommy stay here." and "Let's go home." I managed to hand him over to Dawn and the two of them watched me leave and waved out the kitchen window. I went home and got ready for work instead of going to the gym because I didn't have enough time for a workout.
Josh was home when it was time to pick Jack up, so we both went to get him. He was playing happily with a toy when we got there and Dawn said he had a pretty good day. He ate and slept okay and wasn't bothered too much by the dogs. He wouldn't drink milk out of her sippy cups so he was very happy to have some when we got home. He spent most of the day asking for me, and he was just told that I was at work and would be back after his nap and a snack. He seemed to be okay with that every time. They made stop signs out of construction paper and a popsicle stick, and stop lights out of a graham cracker with frosting and gumdrops. Jack loves his stop sign! She also taught them a song, "Twinkle, Twinkle traffic lights...." that Jack likes to sing while he walks around with his stop sign. All in all, it was a good day.
Day 2 — Thursday
After staying home with Auntie Patty on Wednesday, it was time to go to "school" at Dawn's house again. Before we left home, he wasn't really keen on going but he didn't put up much of a fight. When we got there, he was a little bit clingy, but got excited to show her the sippy cup that he brought over for his milk. Then he started talking about cereal (that's what was for breakfast on his first day) and was told that breakfast was going to be toast and bananas instead. His reply? "Let's have some cereal." So after giving me a hug and kiss and telling me to have a good day, Jack and Dawn went to look at his cereal options. That was it. No tears or pouts. It was quick enough that I had time to get in a short workout before heading into work for the day.
The kids were playing outside when I went to pick him up. He was halfway down the slide when he noticed my car pulling up in front of the house. It had been another good day. He didn't eat as well, maybe because he drank milk this time. There was no crying or looking for me, just a little fuss when he wanted some juice to drink. He was happy to show me the school bus that he colored (the project of the day) and anxious to get home to see Daddy!
Friday — Mommy stays home
Jack wanted me to go to work today. He went through all of his options... Gramma and Grampa, Patty, Nana and even Dawn! I guess I'm just not that fun anymore. How sad :-(
